my take on iPhone

OK Finally i had a chance to go and play with iPhone and get fimiliar with it. Here is my take on it.

PROS:
- The interface is very slick. I really like it.
- The design, concept, access and the features are very good.
- cool features. No mechanical parts. Everything is touchscreen. So damaging the iPhoneis fairly hard unless you smack the screen itself.
- Built in Wi-Fi. Can connect to any open wireless connections.

CONS:
- According to the sales rep, the iPhone CAN NEVER BE network unlocked. OK This is a major turnoff.
- Apple isn't allowing any third party to develop applications. This really sucks. This means that the applications put out by Apple will be expensive and no freebies like the ones available for palm OS.
- Expansive as hell. 600 bucks for 8GB is too much. For the same 600bucks or less, i can buy laptop.
- You can view MS Word, Excel files but you cannot modify them. This is absoulately ridiculous.

OVERALL REACTION:
Really slick and cool device. Lots of new features that i have not see anywhere. That's apple i guess. The staff is trained very well to answer questions. I was really impressed with the design and accessability. The down side is lack of applications and unlock capability. This is not a real device for business people. It cannot replace Treo's or Blackberries yet. This is more like a show and tell device which people will use it for iPod and some basic pda functions and phone. Advanced PDA functions are not available and may not be for a while.

SO WOULD I BUY ONE: Well i am a tech junkie and I would really like to get one of those but after playing with it and stuff, I think i will hold off on buying one until both of the things are satisfied: first is that they actually let third party develop application and this in turn can generate freeware's and second is that it can be network unlocked. Until them i am really happy with my Treo 680.

If you havent played with it, i highly recommend you do that.

i-DAY IS HERE

Today is the big i-Day for apple.

Official release of iPhone.

Who is planning to get one?

Me - maybe. I am reading that its not that useful. They say Palm, Blackberry and other one currently in the market are more functional for business users and in general.

BUT
I have to say what a great and probably one of the most hyped marketing campaign in the history of product launch. I guess that's Steve Jobs. I mean anywhere u go, its iPhone everywhere.

Lets see what u have to say.

what do you think would happen to the loader trapped in the cargo hole in regards to temperature and Oxygen? Would he survive?

What do you all think?  Lets hear it.

Let me be more specific.  I am talking about the loaders that load the bags onto an airplane.  They are sometimes trapped inside the cargo hole.

So folks to my surprise, here is the market share of airlines in India.

 #1: Jet at 22.9%

#2 Indian Airlines (AKA Dabbo) at 21.9%

#3 Air Deccan (another dabbo) at 17%

 #4 Kingfisher at 10.6

and then there is Air Sahara, SpiceJet and other mom and pop airlines

Now I wonder how dabbo #1 got so close to jet.  Hummm something to think about.  Here is the link

He said he was thrilled.

Now i wonder when can i fly like him.

Firs Chrous win and then this publicity. He is flying high.

iPhone

Apple unveils the new iPhone today. I looked at the picture of it today and DAMN that looks awesome.

I am starting to think that Apple is probably the only company in the world that truly understand what the consumers needs. I mean look at the blockbuster hit products, iPod, iPhone, and many other multimedia products. Every time they come out with the product, they hit the spot in people like me who are gadget freaks. Well here is the picture of the cool device.

Introducing iPhone

Introducing iPhone

Go to Apple.com if you are interested in the feature listing. I am really impressed by the functionality and features packed. I must mention that all the features that this phone has are truly usable features like built in wi-fi and may other cool and useful features.

In Upleta,

I added a descriptionof where Manji thakershi oil mill and Mandeep industry is.

In Rajkot,

I added RKC, Taxashila society etc.

This is awesome. I am in love with it.

Rachel Ray hate club

You know Rachel Ray, the 30ish UMMMMMMMish cooking show host. Well I read in the Sunday newspaper that there is an official hate club for her. Now i know she cooks food in 30 minutes and she relies heavily on frozen food but hey who in today's world have time to go to the grocery store everyday to pick fresh products for their dinner, unless u r in France.

My opinion: First of all I like to watch her cook :), she cooks food for today's typical household who comes home tired from work and want to relax. They can follow her recipe and cook food in half and hour, eat it and then relax. I don't see anything wrong with that. I bet you some of us like to do that also once in a while. So why the really hardcore hate club for her?

What is your opinion people?

Ritz-Carlton Boston being bought out by Taj

BOSTON, NOVEMBER 10: Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces said on Thursday it had agreed to buy The Ritz-Carlton Boston hotel, the longest continuously operated Ritz-Carlton hotel in the United States, for $170 million.

The 79-year-old luxury hotel, a fixture in Boston's elegant Back Bay section, overlooks one of the oldest parks in the country. It is being sold by Millennium Partners, a New York- based real estate developer.

The 273-room hotel will be renamed Taj Boston, Indian Hotels Chief Executive Raymond Bickson said in a statement.

Taj Hotels Resorts is a unit of Indian Hotels Co. Ltd., India's biggest hotel operator.

In 1999, Millennium paid USD122 million for the Ritz-Carlton Boston, which opened in 1927 and was built by Edward Wyner.

YIPPPPEEEEE !!! Rumsfeld is out

This is my own opinion.

Thank god that guy is out. I was watching a show last night on PBS and apparently he was involved with Vietnam war as well.

Do you guys see a connection: Vietnam war = US Failure, Iraq war = US failure.

I think he got fired by Bush since they lost the election.

Tribute to Tej

Well one of our cousin passes away on Friday at a tender age of 24. Just married 4 months ago and the one and only son to the parents that were very close to my family. He died because of Dangu fever. Although i did not know him very well before Tulan's marriage, I got real close to him and his mom during Tulan's marriage. Here are few of the things we did during Tulan's marriage:
- I wanted to get my suite ironed day before Tulan's sagai. Well he took me to this ironman. He was closing the store down and Tej made him open the store and had my suite ironed. While the guy ironed the suite, we ate pan and drink sodas.

- Both of us were going on a bike somewhere. We passed next to the cop. Cop told us to pull over because we were not wearing helmets. I told him to pull over and he says "na no need to" and just kept going. It was very funny.

- He took me, Swaroopa, Nina, Tosal and Vimal out for soda and pan. We had really good time. He would put all7 of us in his car and take us out for a ride. We had such a good time with him.

- He got few tubes of pithi for tulan's weeding so that we can all rang tulan in pithi.

Well he is no more. I had to ask my dad two time to make sure it was Tej. I cannot stop thinking about what his parents and his wife are going through right now. We called his dad last night and he was not able to talk. IT IS A REAL SHOCK TO ALL OF US.

May peace be with you
May god give enough strength to your parents to live their life without you.

Our prayers and our thoughts are with you and your family.

So Long Tej. :(

Here are some of the pictures I took of him during Tulan's weeding in January 2006.

So long Tej :(

non stop from JFK - Bombay

Delta started a non-stop service from JFK to Bombay on Nov 1st 2006. its about 15 hours flight and the plane is Boeing 772LR. Each seat has PTV that shows hindi and english movies, hindi music and much more.

What do you folks think? Would you take this flight.

My opinion,
I would take this flight. Atleast it assures me that once I am airborne, I will reach bombay for sure and wont have to worry about layovers and plane change etc.

Lets hear whay u all have to say
